DO NOT REGISTER FOR BOTH of Prof. Herget's classes this semester! Acting upon each other through language: American Political Rhetoric The lecture course will discuss significant developments and specimens of the ways and means by which Americans are persuaded to support collective purposes and actions. Traditional rhetorical strategies such as appeals to logos, pathos, and ethos will be considered as well as how the values, attitudes, and, beliefs change or persist. A major focus will be on presidential rhetoric and on the role of the media.
