This course will give a broad overview of commercial law in the UK. The aims will be to introduce students to the study of a common law subject; introduce students to the way in which law is made, applied and studied in the UK; and give an in depth understanding of the Sale of Goods Act 1979. As this course will be a first introduction to common law for most students, it will also cover some constitutional and administrative law. This will allow students to understand the sources and hierarchy of law in the UK.
Additional information:
UK Commercial Law will be offered in a short four week block this semester. Each week, two lectures will be uploaded to Moodle and, at the end of the four weeks, there will be a computer based multiple choice exam. For anyone who needs it, question and answer sessions will be provided over Skype before the exam. Those who pass will receive the Certificate of Foreign Language Proficiency (Fremdsprachenschein) necessary for graduation from the School of Law.
