There are no admission requirements for participation in the Introduction to Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpreting Russian - German. It is recommended to take this course after completing the respective language competence modules and if possible after attending the course in note-taking. The introduction extends over two semesters, students can join the class every semester.
Active participation is required to pass the course. The exam for the module "Interpreting" can be taken in the form of a commented interpretation.
Contents:
This class is an introduction to the basics of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. In the first part we will start working on listening comprehension and the analysis of spoken texts. Training materials are speeches, interviews and lectures on various topics from different media.
The course content also includes the presentation of your own short speeches as well as preliminary exercises in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting and first experiences with consecutive interpretation as well as in the booth.
During both semesters we will repeatedly reflect on what constitutes successful communication, especially in the context of interpreting.
