The lecture focuses on a sound understanding of the organisation of the sports system and its regulation. It serves as a link to courses such as strategic management, controlling and international sports policy. Students are taught to recognise the diverse structures and regulations of sport in different countries and cultures. In particular, the sports systems of North America, Europe, China and Japan are analysed. An emphasis is placed on identifying disruptive elements that already indicate that the organisation of sport will change in the future - whether through private investors, spin-off leagues or government intervention that threatens the autonomy of sport.
The learning objectives include:-A comprehensive understanding of the sports systems of different countries in terms of their organisational structure, ownership and personnel management.
-An in-depth insight into the sport system in Germany and current developments in the sport ecosystem.
-The ability to recognise the strengths and weaknesses of sports organisations in Germany and abroad.
-Critical reflection on the regulation of sports systems to ensure (international) sporting competitiveness and the regulation of sports leagues.
The course content is partly prepared via video presentations in order to work on and discuss case studies in the lecture hour.
