- familiarise yourself with ILIAS and especially with the documents which are to be found in the folders marked "Resource" and "Fachsprachlicher Gebrauch".

Before the course begins, you should already have an idea of what endocrinology and infectiology are about and, importantly, what the features of medical texts are.

Contents:
Content: This course covers various topics in endocrinology, infectiology, gastroenterology, and cardiology. It examines typical diseases such as hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, thyroid dysfunction, gastrointestinal infections, viral hepatitis, meningitis, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, hypertension, syncope, and aortic valve insufficiency. The course covers their diagnosis and treatment using case studies. The source texts used are authentic information brochures from reputable organizations such as the Federal Health Office, the Robert Koch Institute, and the Medical Center for Quality in Medicine (ÄZQ). The course also includes general text forms on medical topics such as medical bulletins, speeches by the Minister of Health, brochures from pharmaceutical companies, etc., which offer a wide range of topics, styles, and registers.

A medical text translation will be assigned each week and worked through during the lesson; additionally, course participants will create a medical glossary for the outgoing text.

Evaluation:  Weekly assignments are mandatory.

Requirements: Completion of all assignments.
