Requirements / organisational issues:
This class is the continuation of the level 1 and level 2-classes in terms of content and difficulty. By interpreting different texts, we will be highlighting different aspects of the interpreting process. Building on the skills mastered in the previous classes, students will further their interpreting skills.
Students taking this class as a level 3-class will not be taking an exam in this class at the end of the semester.
Students wishing to take the exam for level 4 at the end of the summer term will be given ample opportunity to hone their interpreting skills and to prepare for the exam, which will consist of a 20-minute text which students will interpret from Dutch into German.
Compulsory attendance:
The is no mandatory attendance requirement for this class.
Details regarding active participation (which is required to pass the class) will be discussed in the first class session.

By analyzing and interpreting various texts, we will explore different settings in which simultaneous interpreting is usually used:
conferences
conventions
readings
assemblies
award ceremonies
and many more!
Recommended reading list:
All required materials will be provided for you during term time. There is no required reading list.
Additional information:
Headphones will be provided for all students. Students are, however, free to bring their own headphones if they wish.v
