Module 1: Methodological and Epistemological Foundations

  • Lecture and Exercise: Combined Qualitative and Quantitative Methods
  • Lecture and Exercise: Test Theory and Questionnaire Design

The course is held in English language.

This course is offered as a hybrid format (face-to-face/digital alternating).

 

Contents:
This course is a lecture including exercise. Course content will be provided through lectures. The execution of several tasks by each participant himself or in small groups is demanded.

Here is an overview of the course procedure:


  • Repetition of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Introduction of combined qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Planning and conduction of a mixed-methods study design

    • Survey methods
    • Analysis methods

  • Presentation of conducted studies


To get this course working you have to pass these following steps:

  • Participate in the survey "QL & QT methods"
  • Publish a short biography of your person in the forum (for relevant criteria, see short biographies of your docents)
  • Enroll in a group (more info under "Group Enrollment")


For achieving the active participation, several single and group tasks are required:

  • Complete all single tasks
  • Complete all group tasks
  • Participation in forum discussions
  • Present your study results through digital media to the plenum
