You will be expected to work in groups and present archaeological sites or theories that have been radically transformed by new scientific discoveries and techniques.
Contents:
In this course, you will become acquainted with the methods used by archaeologists, anthropologists and geneticists to study prehistory and early history. You will learn how the interpretation of major archaeological sites has changed over time, in light of new scientific results, from 14C dating to stable isotopes and palaeogenetics. What makes a good interpretation in archaeology? How to combine sometimes contradictory strands of evidence to say what really happened in the past?
