This course is open for master students of conference interpreting from the Russian department. In addition to active participation the succesful completion of the course requires a final exam.
Contents:
This course is designed to further develop students' skills in simultaneous interpreting. To this end, speeches on various topics will be interpreted with increasing difficulty in terms of complexity and speed. In addition, other aspects of conference interpreting such as research, terminology and working in the booth will also be addressed.
The course prepares students for the final exam in simultaneous interpreting, in which they will be required to simultaneously interpret a 20-minute speech from Russian into German.
Assessment criteria and thus learning objectives for this course are, in particular, completeness, correctness and coherence of content, correct and appropriate use of German, application of interpreting strategies as well as presentation skills.
