Requirements / organisational issues:
The lecture is aimed in particular at students in the MA programs. The language of instruction is German. The lecture takes place asynchronously and online. For successful participation, short summaries (five sentences each) of three different sessions are expected.
Compulsory attendance:
There is no attendance requirement. To prove active participation, all participants in the lecture must write and submit short minutes of 5 sentences on three sessions during the semester.
Contents:
In this lecture course, we will discuss various approaches to translation processes in cultural contexts on the basis of text excerpts. The focus will be on translation as a cultural practice, translators as cultural actors, (post)colonial translation strategies, being translated in the course of migration, and translation as a network. To pass the lecture course, please submit a short summary of about 5 sentences on the topics discussed in the session to me by email each week. The schedule of topics and the texts will be available in ILIAS soon.
Digital teaching:
The lecture will be digital and asynchronous. All presentations will be uploaded to Moodle and accessible throughout the lecture period.
