The aim of this course is to reflect on our (future) activity as translators and the theorisation of this activity  (exemplarily).

The course has two aspects and approaches: First, participants will read selected chapters of Translatorische Methodik (available in the library collection as an e-book as well as in the textbook collection) and document their reading results in statements.

In addition, we will test and reflect on the theoretical knowledge by means of practical translation tasks.

Compulsory reading:

Kadric, Mira + Klaus Kaindl + Michèle Kaiser-Cooke (2012). Translational Methodology. 5th, revised edition, Basiswissen Translation. Vienna: facultas.

The book is available as an e-book in the reference collection of the university library.
Additional information:
Exchange students may NOT participate in this course.

Compulsory attendance:
Since class discussion of both theoretical texts and practical work produced by students are central elements of the course, regular attendance is essential.
