Compulsory attendance:
Two guest lectures are scheduled for this lecture, and attendance is mandatory for the corresponding sessions. The dates for these are 25.05.2023 and 22.06.2023.
Contents:
The topic of the lecture in the WPM Tourism in the summer semester 2023 are critical views on tourism and answers in the form of alternative forms of travel and tourism to this criticism. Criticisms are numerous: besides positive aspects of a tourism economy, which e.g. creates jobs and promises economic benefits for the respective tourist region, tourism is also seen as harmful to the climate, the environment, destructive to local cultures and more. In response to such critical views, (alternative) forms of tourism are emerging that attempt to make tourism 'soft', 'sustainable', respectful of local cultures. In this lecture, the critical and alternative views and forms of tourism will be contrasted.
Digital teaching:
The lecture will be offered digitally and asnychron with the exception of sessions 5/25 and 6/22, which will be face-to-face.
