Contents: The Hittite king was not only the political ruler of his kingdom, but at the same time also a cultic protagonist as the representative of the gods on earth. His central role made it necessary to protect or restore his integrity through magical rituals. The seminar offers an overview of the genre of Hittite incantation rituals and the magical techniques contained therein. Texts will be read in selection.
