Prerequisites are the successful participation in Akkadian I & II or comparable academic skills. Knowledge of cuneiform epigraphy is recommended, but not necessary.
Compulsory attendance:
It is not mandatory to attend.
Contents:
CTH 811 is an Akkadian ritual text belonging to the wisdom of the ašipu ("incantation priest") found in Room 5 of Building A of Büyükkale, Hattuša. The text consists of an "exorcistic" ritual to dispel a "mountain fever" (li'bu šadî) that has seized the patient.
Through the reading of the text, student will learn about Ancient Near Eastern medical and ritual-medical practices and enhance their abilities in Akkadian.
