Requirements / organisational issues:
This class is the continuation of the level 1 and 2 classes both in terms of content and difficulty. Students will further enhance their interpreting skills by consecutively interpreting various speeches. In the context of different interpreting settings we will explore all relevant aspects of consecutive interpreting.
e.g.
openings and inaugurations
state visits
dinner speeches
award ceremonies
eulogies
weddings
factory tours
and many more!
Students taking this class as a level 3-class will not be taking an exam in this class at the end of the semester.
Students wishing to take the exam for level 2 or level 4 at the end of the semester will be given ample opportunity to hone their interpreting skills and to prepare for the exams they wish to take. In the winter term, level 2 and level 4 exams will be administered in the thematic context of this class.
Compulsory attendance:
The is no mandatory attendance requirement for this class. However, to pass this class, students need participate actively in class. Details regarding active participation will be discussed in the first class session.
Recommended reading list:
All required materials will be provided for you during term time. There is no required reading list.
Additional information:
Headphones will be provided for all students. Students are, however, free to bring their own headphones if they wish. Students should be equipped with a note pad (max. DinA 5) and enough pens.
