Inhalt: In the course of this seminar we will analyze various normative aspects of the refugee problem. We will take a look at the definition of “refugee” according to the Geneva Convention and Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees and explore the moral basis of according persons qualifying as refugees a special legal status. We will, furthermore, discuss principles of ethics beyond national borders: What are our moral duties to persons in need from abroad and what are our moral duties towards our fellow country-(wo)men?
