Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Bereiche: Internationale Beziehungen, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft Gültig für folgende vom Institut angebotenen Studiengänge: - BA Politikwissenschaft (Aufbaumodul 2 und 3) - MEd Sozialkunde ( Modul Querschnittsprobleme im politischen Kontext) - Staatsexamen (Bereiche IB, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft) This seminar ends on June 15th with a block seminar on June 11th.
Inhalt: What is the Beijing Consensus? What does it mean when China now has the 2nd largest economy? Is the renminbi a world currency? These questions reflect some of the critical issues surrounding the growth of China's economic power. The primary objective of this course is to examine China's rise in the global economy. During the first few weeks the seminar will examine China's former command economy and the transition to a socialist market economy. Next the course will explore the impact of foreign direct investment and trade. Then the course will turn to the domestic issues that China's economy faces, such as the establishment of the rule of law, social issues, the environment and the search for global competitiveness. Finally the course will look at China's economic relationships with regions such as the U.S., the EU, Africa and Asia.
