Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: “Poetry of Neighbours – Poets translate Poets: Scotland” is the title of this year’s literary project at the Künstlerhaus Edenkoben (26.6.-1.7.2019). Funded by the Cultural Foundation of Rhineland-Palatinate, six Scottish writers have been invited to have their poetry translated by German poets and to give public readings. By organising this graduate seminar on Scottish poetry as a Block seminar we are able to take part in it, have three poets come to our seminars in Mainz and attend one or more of the public lectures. The kickoff meeting in April is meant to give you an overview of Scottish poetry and let you select the works of a poet you would like to study in more detail and present in May. The Scottish writers Meg Bateman and Peter Mackay will then discuss their poetry with us on the 25th of June and Claire Askew on the 2nd of July.We will also be invited to Künstlerhaus Edenkoben on Sunday, 30 June, starting at 11 am, to hear and discuss how selected Scottish poems were translated into the German language in dialogue with the respective Scottish poet and the German-speaking poets. A public reading will take place at JGU Germersheim on Monday at 7 pm and it is important that you attend the Sunday event in Edenkoben or this lecture and that you do not miss more than two sessions.
