Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: This lecture course seeks to provide you with a basic grounding in American literature, culture and history from the Colonial period until the present time. It offers a diversity of interdisciplinary perspectives and will equip you with the basic tools for more detailed investigation of the United States in a transnational context. The lectures are designed to prepare you for future study within the American Studies program. Readings complement the lectures and allow you to explore various aspects of the week’s material in more depth. The textbook is widely available for purchase, and the selected documents are either available via the internet (please click on links) or can be downloaded from ILIAS.
