Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: This course introduces you to the methods and approaches of transnational research pursued at the Obama Institute to enable you to develop self-directed research projects. A particular focus will be put on African American intellectual and cultural history, culminating in an international workshop featuring leading U.S. and European scholars, to be held at the Institute on June 27-28. The course and the workshop will give you an opportunity to discuss your interests and research topics with scholars who are experts in the field. Transnationalism involves the study of the movement of peoples, ideas, technologies, literatures, and institutions across national boundaries. It seeks to recover the voices and visions of those people and groups who have been marginalized in the context of the focus on nation-centric history.
