Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches:
The course is taught in English. It is offered from the Faculty 02 Social Sciences and the Gutenberg International School and is open for all students at Johannes Gutenberg University.

Regular JGU students can register to the course via subscription in Jogustine.
Exchange students please add the course to the course registration formlar for exchange students and bring it to the office for student affairs in your department.

 

Inhalt:
Israeli society is diverse in terms of nationality, ethnicity, geography, religion, religiosity, economy, etc. The aim of this course is to give an introduction of the socio-cultural fragmentation of Israeli society today and to explore the roles of media (technologies and discourses) and social constructions in shaping and modifying the relations between different groups in the society. The course addresses the theoretical and practical issues arising from the fragmentations and diversity of Israeli society.

Zusätzliche Informationen:
Students can pass an exam at the end of the semester to get a grade.

Students in the bachelor program "Communication Studies" ("Publizistik") can replace the lecture "Medienkonvergenz" with Prof. Davids lecture. Therefore, they have to participate in the exam at the end of the semester and to pass the exam for replacing the "Studienleistung" in the lecture "Medienkonvergenz"  (without grade, you just need to pass the exam). Please register in the module 7 (KF) resp. 5 (BF) for this lecture, when you want to replace the lecture "Medienkonvergenz" with this course.

Furthermore, Students in the bachelor program "Communication Studies" ("Publizistik") can chose the lecture as "Zusatzqualifikation" in module 9 (KF) / 6 (BF). Therefore, they have to participate in the exam at the end of the semester and to pass the exam (without grade, you just need to pass the exam). Please resigter in the module 9 (KF) resp. 6 (BF) for this lecture when you want to chose it as "Zusatzqualifikation".

Information an alle Politikwissenschaftsstudierende: Die Vorlesung wird dem Bereich AVPS zugeordnet.

Students in the bachelor program Sociology ("Soziologie") can take this course within the context of module 08 ("Gegenstandsbezogene Soziologien (Orientierung"). Please register in module 08 for this lecture, if you want to get the credits of this course for module 08.

Students in the bachelor program Theatre Studies can choose this lecture within the context of module 08 (major subject) / module 04 (minor subject) as an equivalent for the VL. Lecture Summer School. For students in the bachelor program Theatre Studies there will be no mandatory exam at the end of this lecture to pass the course.

 

Digitale Lehre:
The course is going to be a digital course. There will be a mix of pre-recorded sessions and "live" videoconferences. The digital course takes place on Moodle.
