Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: The course is taught in English. It is offered from the Faculty 02 Social Sciences and the Gutenberg International School and is open for all students at Johannes Gutenberg University. Regular JGU students can register to the course via subscription in Jogustine. Exchange students please add the course to the course registration formlar for exchange students and bring it to the office for student affairs in your department.
Inhalt: The aim of this course is to examine the role of new media technologies among different groups and in political and social movements in Israel. The seminar will focus on the social, political, and cultural implications of digital media in Israel today, including the political power of digital media, its role in political conflicts, and the various roles of digital media. How do media help or hinder the creation of new leadership in specific communities? How are media used to promote political change? How do different groups react to new media? What are the risks of the use and overuse of digital platforms?
Zusätzliche Informationen: Active participation is required for successfully completing the course and obtaining the credits. Students can pass an exam at the end of the semester to get a grade. Students in the bachelor program "Communication Studies" ("Publizistik") can replace the seminar "Neue Medien/Online-Kommunikation" with Prof. Davids seminar. Therefore, they have to fulfill the requirements for 'active participation' which the lecturer will announce. Please register in the module 7 (KF) resp. 5 (BF) for this seminar, when you want to replace the seminar "Neue Medien/Online-Kommunikation" with this course. You can write your term paper in this seminar in the context of the exam in module 7 (KF) resp. 5 (BF). Furthermore, students in the bachelor program "Communication Studies" ("Publizistik") can chose the seminar as "Zusatzqualifikation" in module 9 (KF) / 6 (BF). Therefore, they have to fulfill the requirements for active participation. Please resigter in the module 9 (KF) resp. 6 (BF) for this lecture when you want to chose it as "Zusatzqualifikation". An alle Politikwissenschaftsstudierenden: Bitte beachten Sie, dass im Rahmen dieses Seminar KEINE Modulprüfung absolviert werden kann! Bereichszuordnung: AVPS.
Digitale Lehre: The course is going to be a digital course. There will be a mix of pre-recorded sessions and "live" videoconferences. The digital course takes place on Moodle.
