Inhalt: Scottish women writers of the nineteenth century often rivaled their male counterparts in popularity and success on the literary scene. Unlike their male contemporaries, their legacies, however, seldomly outlasted their lifetimes. This course will explore the impact of female writers on Scotland’s literary scene throughout the long 19th century through the example of three influential women writers. We will look at their works through the lens of narratology and uncover their perception of Scottish culture, politics, literature, and art in their respective time periods. Assessment tasks will be announced in class.
Empfohlene Literatur: Literature will be announced in class.
