  • if you want to take part in the seminar and the accompanying tutorial (Fridays, 10.15-11.45 am) or just one of them

Inhalt:
Students of the social sciences from all over the world taking part in this seminar (5 ECTS) will get the opportunity to view Germany from various perspectives within the social sciences. The seminar will provide insight into a wide range of topics related to German society, politics, media and culture, in particular:


  • Social Structure & Social Challenges in Germany
  • Purposes of Education in the 21st Century
  • Reform of Higher Education in Europe & Germany
  • German Media & Public Opinion
  • The Labor Market in Germany
  • Work Stress - Cultural Perspectives
  • Research Methods & Current Research Topics of Social Sciences

The three lecturers, who are social scientists themselves, will teach and discuss different perspectives on the multiple course topics. Within the seminar‘s interdisciplinary approach students are encouraged to contribute by actively sharing their views on the topics at hand as the seminar’s concept is a highly interactive one.

Zusätzliche Informationen:
The seminar takes place Wednesdays from 18:00 to 19:30 Room 02.607 in the Georg Forster-Gebäude (Jakob-Welder-Weg 12).

To successfully take part in the seminar students will have to fulfill the following requirements:
Oral presentation + written exam + term paper (incl. a draft) + class participation

In the seminar, the students obtain 5 ECTS credits for participation, written exam, oral presentation, term paper and homework assignment.
