Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: While many of their male colleagues have already become world famous, many Jewish American women writers have only become well-known among Americans or within the fold of the Jewish community in the United States. In this course, we will analyze short stories, novels, and plays of some Jewish women writers who definitely deserve the same recognition as the more acclaimed male writers in terms of their writing. The works address topics that conceern the immigrant experience, the question of Jewish identity, and the particular struggles women face in society at large as well as within the Jewish community.
