Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: The course is taught in English. It is offered from the Faculty 02 Social Sciences and the Gutenberg International School and is open for all students at Johannes Gutenberg University. Regular JGU students can register to the course via subscription in Jogustine. Exchange students please add the course to the course registration formlar for exchange students and bring it to the office for student affairs in your department.
Inhalt: The aim of this course is to examine the symbiotic relationship between the Israeli media and political system. The seminars will focus on the social, political, and cultural implications of the relations between the Israeli media and political system, including the political power and various roles of media, especially their role in political conflicts. To address these aims, the seminars will seek to answer various questions: What explains Israel’s divided society and media, and what accounts for the multi-party political system? How are media used to promote political behavior? How do different political groups react to media use and media coverage? What challenges do political parties and movements face as a result of the multiple identities and media system in Israel?
Zusätzliche Informationen: Active participation is required for successfully completing the course and obtaining the credits. Students can pass an exam at the end of the semester to get a grade. Students in the bachelor program "Communication Studies" ("Publizistik") can replace the seminar "Politische Kommunikation" with Prof. Davids seminar or chose it as "Zusatzqualifikation" in module 9 (KF) / 6 (BF).
