Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: The Lecture in combination with the exercise classes gives an introduction to modern experimental methods of high energy physics. It is aimed for "master of science" students and will focus on the research methodologies at hadron- and lepton accelerators. The lecture covers all relevant tools starting from data analysis, error analysis, particle detection and identification, phenomenology of collider physics as well as basics of programming. No previous knowledge on programming is expected, an introduction to programming will be provided as an optional part of the exercise classes. Overview: Physics at proton and electron/positron colliders Monte Carlo Simulation Particle reconstruction and identification Advanced error analysis and multivariant data analysis methods Hands-on examples from current research projects
