Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Have you ever been to London? Have you been to Shakespeare’s London??? There will be a one-week excursion to “Shakespeare’s London and Shakespeare’s Globe” from 12th-19th August 2023, with two obligatory all-day workshops in Mainz on 24th June and 15th July. We will explore Shakespeare’s London on foot, experience hands-on workshops at Shakespeare’s Globe and a private backstage tour just for us, watch two productions there, visit the Rose Theatre, and end with a boat trip along the Thames. Everything will be conducted in English, so your English-language skills and confidence in using the language will be considerably expanded. And we will be staying in central London, so you can explore the city to your heart’s content in the evenings! The excursion will be formally within the context of a “Summer School”, but can be taken as a wide range of English Literature & Culture (ELC) Seminare for the BA, BEd, MA and MEd study programmes, as well as an MA elective. Registration for this class will NOT be in Jogustine but direct via Michael Claridge, the ELC lecturer leading the course. If there is space, places will be made available to students who have already passed the possible Seminar options but would nonetheless like to participate. There will be a first OBLIGATORY information session on Thursday, 26th January, 2020, at 6 p.m. prompt (i.e. s.t.!), in Room P7 with many more details, including what kinds of Seminar you can take this course as and how much participation will cost.
