Inhalt:
Pornography has long been a subject of disagreement, but it has been especially contentious among feminists since its growth to video format. During the feminist sex wars of the 1980s, there was a schism among feminists on the question of pornography, with some claiming that it was essentially restrictive and harmful to women. In contrast, others saw it as a form of expression and a possible source of power for women. This course takes a feminist approach to Western and worldwide discussions about pornography by studying these two lines of argumentation and comparing them to analogous arguments abroad. We will engage with the historical, social, cultural, and discursive constructions of "pornographic" and examine the construction of pornography in Western markets in the twentieth century, feminist responses and clashes within feminist movements around the issue, the rise of global porn, and alternative usages of porn as subversive media practices. The course's goal is not only to investigate maps of hidden and illegitimate human sexuality depiction but also to support the intricacies that define the pornographic as "filthy" and pleasurable, sexist and emancipatory, phantasmal and objectifying, exploitative and liberating phenomena.

Through this course, the students will acquire the following:
• Inter- and transdisciplinary competence to understand questions of sex, sexuality, and labor.
• Clear overview of the history of transdisciplinary feminist theory and development phases (waves) of feminism.
• Capacity to critically engage with transdisciplinary literature on pornography and pornographization.
• Methods to develop argumentation on these issues based on different course materials (academic texts, activists’ engagements, movies, documentaries, debates)
