Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: Prerequisites: Students who have completed the B2 English Intermediate course will be given priority; students who have reached level B2.2 in the placement test will also be given a priority. Inhalt: This course is designed for students of faculties connected to Natural Sciencies, Business, and Social Studies and all those who are interested in current developments in these fields. The main focus lies on improving skills in writing and speaking in an academic and professional context. Over the course of the semester students acquire vocabulary relevent to understand various types of scientific literature. Topics will be chosen from books and current publications according to the make-up of the group. Classwork includes discussions of the above, exercises in different kinds of writing and vocabulary areas, as well as work on lexical and grammatical proficiency. Students will be expected to compile a glossary of terms specific to their fields, give a presentation on a topic of their choice and deal with ensuing questions.
