Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches: While many male writers of Jewish background have reached world fame, many Jewish American women writers have become well-known only amongst American readers or within the fold of the Jewish community in the United States. It is the objective of the class to introduce students to the works of Jewish American women writers, whose works address a large variety of topics, such as the immigrant experience, Jewish identity, tradition v. modernity, and the particular struggles women face in society at large as well as in the Jewish community.
