Inhalt: This course offers an introduction to the politics of global finance. It draws on the research tradition of international political economy to examine the history of the financial sector and the structural dependence of states, firms and households on financial institutions such as banks, central banks, development banks, institutional investors, hedge funds, credit rating agencies and others. The course will provide students with an advanced understanding of how the financial system is organised on a global basis, broaden their understanding of current global financial issues and equip them for further research into the political economy of global finance and the world economy.
