Requirements / organisational issues:
This course is aimed at PhD students of the Graduate School "Symmetry Breaking". Diploma and master students who have already attended lectures in particle physics or quantum field theory are also welcome.

Contents:
After introducing the basic theoretical concepts of the electroweak sector of the Standard Model of elementary particles, the most important physics results obtained at the LEP, Tevatron and LHC colliders will be discussed. Special emphasis is put on the properties of the electroweak gauge bosons, which allow an indirect access to unmeasured physics parameters of the Standard Model, like the mass of the Higgs boson. In addition, the latest results of searches for physics beyond the Standard Model such as supersymmetric theories are presented.
