VERLAGSSTRATEGIEN / STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT IN PUBLISHING
In this *** English-language *** seminar, we will a) learn about analytical dimensions of strategic relevance for (media) businesses as well as the strategic options to act (Andersen, Küng), b) learn about the Case Study method as an important qualitative research method also for publishing studies scholars (Yin) and – on this basis – c) work through a number of interesting recent publications and studies on strategic aspects of the book / media industry (from journals like Logos, Publishing Research Quarterly, etc.). As a result of all this, students will be able to drill down in the face of selected contemporary observations from the book industry – by writing their own (small) case study (as one option for the seminar paper) …
