A recommended reading list for the course is provided with the first lesson. All presentations, transcripts and assignments will be available via LMS Moodle. Optional video chat sessions and a weekly forum conducted on LMS Moodle will enable us to discuss the ideas presented on the course. Participation is demonstrated through completion of written assignments. Assessment will be based on a term paper.
Along with a selection of poems which will be studied throughout the course, we will be analysing the following texts:

Contents:
This course is designed as a general introduction to literary studies and aims to familiarise students with the fundamentals necessary for the study of English literatures. The course will provide students with important critical concepts and methods in order to further their skills of description, analysis, and interpretation, as well as acquaint them with different theoretical approaches to literature. For illustration, we will draw on representative textual examples from a variety of genres and periods.
Assessment tasks will be specified in class.
