Requirements / organisational issues:
This course is designed to introduce you to a selection of key moments in recent Native American history and their cultural representations in media, performance, and literature. We will discuss and analyze selected plays, a variety of literary texts, film, and new/social media portrayals of recent events in indigenous communities in North America.
This course will be taught exclusively on Moodle (lms.uni-mainz.de). In this asynchronous format, we will work with brief presentations as introductions to the topics, study guides and assignments on primary texts, occasional online discussion forums, and links to videos and other online material. At the end of each topic section, we will synchronously meet on Big Blue Button/MS Teams to share ideas and discuss topics live. Students will take on their own small research project to complete the active participation requirement.
