- As long as Sars-CoV-2 is our persistent companion, all teaching will be fully digital. Teaching this winter will include, though,
=> synchronous elements such as video conferences (f. i. at big blue button - bbb.rlp.net), and
=> if possible, voluntary face-to-face sessions in small groups.
Contents:
What makes a good citizen? What would the liberal philosopher say? And would his communitarian colleague agree? What does the answer to this question depend upon?
What are the justifiable ends and means of educating the good citizen? Will it be enough, as John St. Mill had it, to teach children how to read and write and do basic math? Or should future citizens undergo some thorough moral training?
And who is to teach them: parents, peers, teachers, the state?
We will look at what the great political philosophers of the past had to say on this subject, and we will join the contemporary debate.
