Contents:
This lecture gives an introduction to particle-detector technologies, which are used in all modern particle-physics and astroparticle-physics experiments. In particular it will cover
- Interaction of ionising radiation with matter
- Ionisation detecors
- Semiconductor-based detectors
- Scintillators and photomultipliers
- Calorimeters
- Particle identification
- Measurement of momenta
- Modern detectors and particle-, nuclear-, and astroparticle physics
It is planed, that we construct our own particle detector during the semester.
