Prerequisites:
Electromagnetism (Theo 2), quantum mechanics (Theo 3 & 5), quantum field theory (Theo 6a), Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics

Attendees are expected to have working knowledge of quantum field theory and basic familiarity with the Standard Model of particle physics.
 

Contents:
This course will cover a range of topics in Standard Model and electroweak physics, with a focus on theoretical calculations and comparison with the experimental state of the art.  Various units include:

0.  Review of SM electroweak symmetry breaking
Gauge sector
Quark sector, CKM matrix
Lepton sector, PMNS matrix, the question of the origin of neutrino masses

1.  Higgs physics
SM Higgs production mechanicsm and decays
The hierarchy problem and the electroweak scale
Extended Higgs sectors
BSM decays of the 125 GeV Higgs
Current status of Higgs measurements

2. Electroweak physics
Linear, Nonliear realizations of EWSB
Anomalous gauge couplings
Gauge boson scattering and unitarity
Goldstone boson equivalence

3. Quark and lepton flavor physics
Kaon, D-meson, B-meson physics
Top physics
Muon and tau physics
Flavor-changing neutral currents
Rare processes in the SM
CP violation tests
Electric dipole moments

4.  Neutrino physics
Majorana vs. Dirac
Seesaw variations

5.  Collider physics
Parton distribution functions and partonic cross sections
Quarks/gluons from partons to jets
Sudakov logarithms

6. (Time permitting) Tabletop precision experiments of the SM
Electron g-2
Newton's G experiments
