- Erasmus-Studenten (B.Sc. (Advanced), M.Sc)

Prerequisites:

Lectures and tutorials will be given in English. A good command of the English language is therefore required for attending this course.

Times and Places:
Lecture: Thursday, 2.15 pm to 3.45 pm, Room RW1 (Prof. Dr. Philipp Harms)
Tutorial: Thursday, 12.15 pm to 1.45 pm, Room RW 1 (Dr. Miriam Kohl)

The course starts on November 5, 2020.
Note that there will be a concentration of lectures at the start of the semester, and that some of the tutorial slots will be used for lectures.

Contents:
Learning Outcomes/Competencies:

Students learn to competently deal with the theory of international trade, to critically assess both classical and more recent approaches, to confront theoretical hypotheses with the empirical evidence, and to apply their insights and findings in discussions about economic policy issues.

The module covers central methods and concepts in the field of international trade, such as the determinants of trade patterns, the effects of trade on welfare and the income distribution, as well as the role of imperfect competition and firms in international trade.

Teaching modalities in times of COVID19:

Lectures and tutorials will be taught in classroom at JGU Mainz. In addition, lectures and tutorials will be recorded. The resulting videos will be made available to students on the JGU Panopto platform. In case of an infection among course participants, or if official regulations require it, we will have to move online. In this case, lectures and tutorials will be made available as videos via the JGU Panopto platform. The respective link will be communicated to students via ILIAS.

All lecture materials and information will be distributed via ILIAS.
