The class will be taught asynchronously except for the first week when you will be invited to a synchronous Big Blue Button session.
Contents:
This class is going to take you through all the stages and forms of professional academic writing short of penning a full book: we will write calls for papers for (entirely hypothetical) conferences. Then we will respond to some of these calls by authoring abstracts. We will evaluate each other’s abstracts and proceed to conceptualise and then realise actual papers to be delivered at our (entirely fictional) conference(s). And finally, we will try our hand at transforming these papers meant for oral presentation into scholarly articles. During all these phases, you will get extensive feedback from your instructor and your fellow students.
Digital teaching:
?Our online platform will be Moodle/LMS (lms.uni-mainz.de). For writing feedback, we are going to use the free online feedback tool KAIZENA.
