Contents:
Investigating the history of past agriculture, human diet and vegetation development (archaeobotany) provides important results for archaeological research. In the course of the practice there will be an introduction to fundamentals and methods concerning the determinations of archaeobotanical macro-remains (fruits, seeds, wood etc.) including the scientific application in the frame of current settlement archaeological research. In the event of current excavations of the hessenARCHÄOLOGIE sampling the different deposition and feature types will be demonstrated on-site. In addition, the students will wet-sieve archaeobotanical samples as well as sort out and determine plant remains under the microscope. Further details will result from the current proceedings.
