The lecture series deals with the different parts of our Earth system and how they are represented in computer models of the cliamte system. This includes both concepts, but also process descriptions.
The lecture course will be given in English, except if only German speaking participants are taking part.
The lecture course is offered within the "Studium Generale", such that also people with another background than meteorology are welcome - however, a basic understanding of natural sciences is required.
Contents:
The lecture series starts with a general introduction, and than describes atmospheric phenomena and their representation in computer models. Afterwards other domains of the Earth System, i.e. the ocean, the biosphere and the cryosphere are treated. Finally, is is planned to describe different complexity of these models and to explain, how future climate predictions are conducted.
Digital teaching:
This lecture will be given online via MS-Teams. Registered students are added to a respective team. Lectures are going to be recorded and will be available as video streams.
