Understanding the dynamics of supercooled liquids is the goal of this lecture.

The lecture should be suited for students in their 3rd year at university or later.

The lecture is planned for Thursday 4pm - 5:30 pm.

  • structure of liquids
  • systematic expansion in the low density limit
  • dynamic of liquids
  • systematic expansion for short times
  • functional derivatives
  • memory effects and the Mori-Zwanzig projection scheme
  • experimental methods (e.g. neutron scattering, light scattering)
  • dynamic of supercooled liquids
  • mode coupling theory and scaling laws in the vicinity of the liquid to glass transition
  • phänomonologic treatment of the glass transition
  • generalized hydrodynamics

Digital teaching:
If possible the lecture will be given in real space. In case of digital teaching bbb will be used.
