Chapter 3: Electronic states and magnetic moments in the periodic potential of solids

Essentials of Bloch theory, tight binding band structure, crystal electric field


Chapter 4: Ensembles of individual magnetic moments

Paramagnetism of localized moments, paramagnetism of conduction electrons, diamagnetism


Chapter 5: Coupled magnetic moments – magnetic ordering

Dipole-Dipole interaction, exchange interaction, Mean field model of ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism, Band (Stoner) model of ferromagnetism, magnetic excitations (magnons)

 
Chapter 6: Hard Disk Drive – multidomain states and magnetoresistance effects
