Probing the world of many-body physics: Spectroscopic methods in condensed matter physics


This seminar series aims to explore many-body physics. While many material properties can be predicted by a one-electron Hamiltonian combined with an effective potential, ordering phenomena such as superconductivity and magnetism are directly related to many-body interactions and there still exist a number of properties that are poorly understood. Recent developments of spectroscopic methods shed light on the many-body interactions and thus help understanding the physics behind them. 

In the seminar we will present and discuss relevant spectroscopic methods and explore their impact on the increase of knowledge.

The topics will be presented and distributed at the first lecture.

Additional information:
The participants are expected to prepare and conduct a rehearsal with the topics mentor at least one week in advance of the presentation.
The participants are also expected to submit a one page abstract (max. 2000 characters including spaces, one Figure, and References) one week before the presentation.
